One of the greatest days on the mountain of light is when a new child joins the family! Our latest arrival comes from the north coast. His mother passed away six years ago and his father left the family and no longer is in contact. He was passed around and a missionary who works with families and who has known him since he was very young reached out to say she had tried to no avail to find a foster family for him. While he was currently staying with her it was not a long term solution. She said everyone wants to take in the cute little children but no one wanted a teenage boy… would we consider taking him?
Our director went to meet with him and to tell him about Montaña de Luz. He wondered what the boys like to do besides sports as he hates sports! He loves to read and listen to music. She assured him that there was lots to do besides sports! While he has completed 6th grade, he hasn’t been enrolled in school in several years. However, he likes school and wants to one day go to college.
The best part of this story is that he has been on the Mountain of Light for a few weeks and the magic that happens there is doing it’s thing with him. The love, acceptance, care and nurturance is helping him to settle in, find peace and hope for his future. How wonderful is that? Without the support we receive from our donors none of this would be possible.
