Volunteers must be proficient in Spanish, have a college degree or equivalent experience, and able commit to a one year period.

Volunteer Opportunity in Honduras:
Montaña de Luz Community Store Manager
Montaña de Luz is a non profit organization that is committed to caring for children affected by HIV/AIDS in Honduras. The mission of this organization is to assist our children in terms of their educational, psychological, and medical needs and to support their self esteem. We are committed to their growing and ever changing needs.
We are looking for the following characteristics in a volunteer:
Proficient in English and Spanish
21 years or older
Enthusiastic
Takes initiative
Creative
Has the capacity to work independently and in a team
Awareness of the realities of people living with HIV
Desire to commit to the work of this project
Degree in one of the following or related fields: Economics, business administration or similar careers
This person would help develop a business plan for the Montaña de Luz´s community store and would then be responsible for implementing the business plan and overseeing the community store. The objectives for this project are becoming more self sustainable as an institution while also providing a service to our community. The plans for the store may be flexible and will most likely include selling produce and fresh chicken for consumption. It may also expand to include the sale of artisan good from the local area. One of our other main objectives is to include the children who live within this center in the running of this store, in order for them to have a better understanding of small business. We are seeking someone who is not only knowledgeable in the area of business and or finance, but who has a desire to work with children and in a community setting.
This opportunity is aimed at people who have a strong desire to commit to volunteering in a non-profit organization, to start their careers by volunteering, or foreign persons who wish to continue doing volunteer work in Honduras.
